INVISALIGN

At Sheppard Village Dental, we are proud to provide our patients with INVISALIGN clear orthodontics. Our experienced dentists have been providing a variety of orthodontic care to our patients for over 25 years. While traditional braces are intended to accomplish certain types of tooth movements, INVISALIGN treatment can offer our patients a “clear alternative” to metal braces.

Traditional braces can be aesthetically challenging, especially for adults. If you have given up on a beautiful straight smile because you think you missed the chance for traditional braces, INVISALIGN may be for you. The beauty of INVISALIGN treatment is that it is virtually invisible. Your smile will become more and more beautiful daily and it will appear as though you are wearing nothing on your teeth. You deserve to have your dream smile and INVISALIGN can help you get there.

INVISALIGN

Approximately 80% of the cases treated orthodontically can be treated using INVISALIGN for older teens and adults. The process involves wearing a series of clear aligners that allow you to straighten your teeth without having the metal on your teeth. With a proven track record of over 20 years and 4 million cases completed, the technology and process has been fully proven to work efficiently and comfortably.

Using computers and CAD/CAM technology to aid in the design and manufacturing, we have been able to provide more predictable movements of teeth including correcting rotations, crowding, tipping and spacing.  Many of the adult patients we treat had orthodontics as a child and perhaps because of jaw growth or not wearing a retainer after treatment, the teeth “relapsed” and were crowded again. These are some of the easiest cases to treat because we already know that there is room for the teeth in the jaw.

Some of the ADVANTAGES OF INVISALIGN:  They are nearly invisible; they are easy to maintain; there are no dietary restrictions because you can remove them to eat normally. In some cases, the treatment time can be faster than traditional orthodontics because INVISALIGN offers the advantage of applying pressure and moving multiple teeth at once. Another huge advantage of INVISALIGN over traditional orthodontics is the ease of cleaning your teeth. Since they are removable, you can still brush and floss as normal.

In some more complex cases such as those patients with crossbites, severe overjets, skeletal discrepancies (lack of space), severe tilting of teeth over 45 degrees, large spaces from extractions – traditional orthodontic braces might be more effective. In addition, younger patients who have both adult and baby teeth and jaws that are still growing have additional challenges to using INVISALIGN.

The perfect way to determine which option will work best for you would be to come in for a consultation with our trained doctors to discuss your individual condition and situation. Dr. Brach is well-educated and has lots of experience with INVISALIGN so he can assess the best option specifically for you. When you come in for your consultation, you will receive a plan to improve your smile, your health, your chewing function, and your self-confidence!

If you are in the Greater Toronto Area and are considering either ORTHODONTICS with BRACES or INVISALIGN, you will appreciate that our office has been serving the community for over 25 years. In addition, we offer various financing options for our patients to make the process easy.

Five Things You Should Know Before You Get Invisalign.

We believe in empowering our patients through education. Read below for the most commonly asked questions regarding INVISALIGN. We always invite you to call us to set up a no-obligation consultation to determine which option is best for you.

1. HOW MUCH IS INVISALIGN TREATMENT?

The fees for INVISALIGN are typically close to the price of traditional braces. We will look at your individual situation and discuss your personalized options. During your initial consultation, we will review your x-rays, take some photos, see what your mouth condition is, help identify the best options for you based upon your lifestyle, habits and age.

2. WILL MY DENTAL INSURANCE COVER INVISALIGN?

Every dental plan is different. Some plans will cover your treatment, some may not. Whether or not your plan will cover them is typically related to the specific plan your employer selected. We would be happy to do a complimentary benefits check to help you maximize what your particular plan will cover on your INVISALIGN.

3. HOW LONG DOES THE INVISALIGN PROCESS TAKE?

In general, most of the orthodontic cases that we treat with INVISALIGN take as little as 6 months to 14 months! Using the latest technologies available, we can switch through the aligner trays in as little as one week. You can come in for a new set of aligners every 4-6 weeks.

4. AM I A CANDIDATE FOR INVISALIGN?

While approximately 80% of the orthodontic cases can be completed with INVISALIGN, not all cases are ideal. There are a few limitations which are typically related to jaw discrepancies or severe tooth rotations.

5. HOW WILL WEARING THE ALIGNERS AFFECT MY DAILY LIFE?

Generally speaking, INVISALIGN aligners are minimally invasive. There are no metal wires, no restrictions on eating, and you can easily clean your teeth. The benefits of straighter teeth are not only better chewing function and a nicer smile, but also healthier gums. The mouth is the pathway to your overall body health, therefore, having healthier gums can contribute to lower risk of other systemic conditions such as diabetes, heart attack or stroke. Straighter teeth can allow proper direction of chewing forces, align top and bottom teeth, and lower your risk for fractures and tooth loss.
